Pet Vaccinations

Pet Vaccinations in Montclair

Immunizing your pet against deadly diseases is one of the most important steps you will ever take toward ensuring a long and happy life for your faithful companion. As long as these injections administered in a timely manner and updated as necessary, they can provide a lifetime of protection against rabies and other threats. That's why either veterinarian at Arrow Dog & Cat Hospital, Dr. Nichole Agarwal or Ayaka Ando, DVM, will be happy to provide those vaccinations through low-cost vaccine clinics or regular wellness visits.

Pet Vaccinations at Arrow Dog & Cat Hospital

An animal's immune system responds to real or perceived infections by producing antibodies, tiny proteins specifically constructed to attack and kill the invading disease strain. Unfortunately, puppies and kittens aren't born with these antibodies already in their blood, except for whatever protection they've received from their mother's body. Once the mother's antibodies are gone, the baby animal is helpless against potentially deadly diseases. Our veterinarians addresses this problem by injecting a vaccine into the animal's bloodstream. A vaccine is merely a pathogen that has been deactivated -- rendered inert so that it can't actually cause an infection. But the body still recognizes it as a threat, so it produces the appropriate antibodies against it. Now your pet is protected!

Specific pet vaccinations known as "core" vaccinations should be administered to dogs and cats beginning at the age of 6 to 8 weeks. Dogs should receive core vaccinations for rabies, canine adenovirus, canine parvovirus and canine distemper. Cats should vaccinate against rabies, feline panleukopenia, feline calicivirus and FHV1. Several rounds of vaccinations are administered early in life, followed by occasional booster shots throughout adulthood to keep the protection from fading. Depending on your pet's lifestyle, your veterinarian at Arrow Dog & Cat Hospital may also recommend other vaccinations to guard against Bordatella, Lyme disease and other threats.

Vaccination Options from Our Montclair, CA Veterinarian

Either Montclair, CA veterinarian on our team can provide pet vaccinations as routine part of veterinary wellness appointment. We will advise you as to how long the vaccines will last and when to schedule booster shots. (Ultimately, of course, it's up to you to make this critical health protection a priority by keeping those appointments.) If you plan to taking a trip with your pet, make sure your pet has been vaccinated according to the requirements of your airline or destination. Some countries, for instance, will require documented proof that your pet is vaccinated against rabies.

If we've never vaccinated your pet before, please bring any vaccination records you may have so we can determine which vaccines need to be administered. Contact Arrow Dog & Cat Hospital at (909) 946-3211 to learn more!
